Kelly and Carter planned their wedding around their love for the outdoors and National Parks. Having an outdoor wedding also allowed them to keep their special day safe and fun for all their guests during a pandemic. Read all about the details below!
How did you meet?
We are high school sweethearts! My good friend was dating his good friend and they thought it would be cute to set us up on a date.
When did you know you were falling in love?
I knew he was the one when he fit in so perfectly with my four brothers, who are my best friends in the world.
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
His favorite quality about her is her selflessness and undying support for him, as well as her adventurous spirit and ability to make him smile. Her favorite quality about him is the lightheartedness between them and his ability to make her excited to go out of her comfort zone and try new things.
Hardest part of wedding planning?
Trying to adjust our plans to make our special day as safe but memorable as possible during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
Our wedding was National Park themed. We have a goal to visit every National Park in the United States together, and the Smoky Mountains was the very first one we went to as a couple. All of our tables were labeled as different National Parks rather than the traditional numbers. We also wanted our wedding to be lighthearted and fun outside enjoying nature, so we kept it casual with cornhole games, Disney music, and breakfast-for-dinner.
How about your dress or attire?
I wore my grandmother’s earrings and necklace because she could not be there to see her only granddaughter get married due to Covid-19. This was her way of still being with me as I walked down the aisle.
What was the most memorable moment?
The exit down the aisle after the ceremony. All of our friends and family showered us with rose petals, we stopped for some great pictures of the bride holding up her bouquet in the air, and we stopped for an encore kiss halfway down the aisle. Oh, and the song “Married Life” from Disney Pixar’s Up was playing!
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
Never Break by John Legend because after having been together for over 7 years, we had been through thick and thin together.
Tell us about your grand exit!
After the ceremony, our guests threw flower petals at us. After the reception, our guests lined up and waved glow sticks in the dark.
Best wishes Kelly & Carter from The Pink Bride!
